“Working quickly and intuitively the individual objects become invested with sprit and vibe. Immediacy was part of the subject and practice reflected in the forms composition and construction. The ceramic process seems to invite windows of opportunity. First and foremost being the wet plastic stage here working with the greasy mud anything seems possible. Glazing is another potential moment for departure although the choices are more paced and pointed. The glazes are applied thickly with brush drying mat and drab in the work’s surface. Fired in the kiln at 1800 degrees the glazes become glass. Unloading a kiln is like opening a birthday present, at age 13. Pots warm, colors popped, surfaces smoothed and evened the work finished in a new colored glass skin.”
