Postal Card Bless 'Em

This simple paulownia box is handcrafted by Japanese artisans and is ideal for storing card collections and important letters. Since ancient times, paulownia boxes have been used in Japan to preserve kimonos and picture scrolls. A traditional Japanese Sanadahimo ribbon will be tied around the box. If you have an acrylic or glass plate, it can function as a display case for collections(see image).

タンニンの成分を持つ桐材は、湿気を防いだり防虫・抗菌の作用があり、大切な着物を守り、骨董品や絵巻物、茶道道具や陶器を保護するのに使われ、桐箱は古くから日本で親しまれてきました。文箱として、ポスタルカードコレクションや大切な書簡の保存に適しています。また、アクリル板やガラス板があれば、標本箱のようにして、ポスタルカードを飾ることもできます(画像参照)。
